Wisconsin Dells - August 15, 2009

Jeff Harris has
always dreamed of starring in the sequel to the movie Blue Crush.  Last weekend, the Milwaukee weather hit a scorching 80 degrees, so we felt it would be appropriate to head up to the Wisconsin Dells.  For those of you living in the rest of the world that is not Wisconsin, The Dells is said to be Americas Waterpark Capital.  Now most rational people would say, Seriously? They put all these waterparks in a region that doesnt consistently get sunshine nor very warm weather for more than 3 months of a year?  Believe it or not, yes they doand they compensate for that warm weather by building many of the waterparks are indoors with each hotel claiming to have the nations largest

Anyways, back to Jeff since we have no waves in Wisconsin, the Kalahari Resort is the only place that he can train to be a surfer.  The videos below will show some of his training you can be the judge on whether or not the director will cast him in the new movieSurfs Up!

Ok, so no one just picks up a board and is a pro right away, so let's give him some instruction and let him try again.

Austin, TX - March 2008

Shea Sterner and I had just been in San Antonio for the Spurs game and then passed through Waco, TX on our way to Austin.

After having some lunch, Shea and I were walking up the famous 6th street.  We were discussing the bat cave under the Congress Avenue Bridge when we heard a loud crash.

We looked over to our left and what do you know, some cool guy just rear-ended a cab.  I mean literally every block on 6th street has a traffic light on it and no one is going particularly fast, so this asshole had to be paying no attention whatsoever.  I guess the $80,000 car wasn't enough to impress the girl, so he was showing her his baseball card collection when he looked up and saw a cab bumper inches from his face.

Another fun fact, the cab driver was wearing a Cardinals t-shirt.

In an attempt to add some content, entertaining or not, I'm going to try and include some "Stories of the Road."  They may or may not have any relevance to the BIG TEN whatsoever, but I think about these occurances every now and then & they bring a smile to my face.

Memorial Day weekend - Minneapolis, MN - May 2009

Myself, Wes, Blake, and Dan (all featured on this site) traveled to Minneapolis to see the Brewers and Twins play in the final interleague rivalry series at the Metrodome (pending nothing tragic occuring during the construction of the new stadium).  I've said it before and I'll say it again, I LOVE interleague play.  Of all the interleague play, I've witnessed, none has been better than the Twins/Brewers rivalry series.  There's literally an equal # of each team's fans at nearly every game.  As you walk through the city, you'll see just as many of the opposing team t-shirts as you will your own team.  Wes & I differed on who we favored, but that's not where I'm going with this story.

Instead, I'd like to mention the night prior to the game.  We were in the Minneapolis "Uptown," staying with my buddy Pallab Ghosh (who in his apartment has a photo of 2Pac on one wall and Ghandi on the other) when we decided to check our a rooftop bar called "drink."  Once up top, there was a guy who stood out from everyone else...probably because he was 6'8". Upon further review, we found that it was Augsburg College's own Devean George.  Former Laker, former Maverick, former Raptor, & now Golden State Warrior Devean George. Pallab was friends with one of Devean's buddies, so we went up to chat.  One of Devean's buddies asks Wes, "Where ya from my man?" to which Wes replies "Delaware."  At the same moment Pallab had bought some shots for all of us and began handing them around.  Once we all had them, Devean's friend shouts, "To Delaware!"  Everyone pushes their shot glasses together and says "To Delaware," except for Devean ... who says, "Man, I don't even know where the F*ck that is?" and downs his shot.  CHEERS!
