Penn State fans in Illinois!

All that Blue!
So while we we in Happy Valley, we made a lot of friends & learned a lot about the culture of Penn State. Of course, we still think Yuengling beer sucks & definitely think the fans were wrong about telling us to come to the Iowa game. Regardless, the Illinois fans weren't too welcoming through the message boards and such, so we contacted a few of the friends we met in State College, PA and told them to join us in Illinois.
The first PSU fan we met up with was the man, the truth, the legend....Paul Frankhouser! Oh, maybe you know him better as "Blue Hair." We thought his tailgate was just dynamite in Happy Valley, so Drew contacted him to meet up in Penn State. If you haven't seen his site, we'd recommend it. He promotes good sportsmanship in tailgating (close to our heart) and often invites opposing fans to stop on over!
Even on the road, he had some exciting features at his modified tailgate. First was the lucky rock that was stolen from him, yet found at a yardsale over a decade later and halfway across the country.
Of course, the Hummer was in full effect with the Lion on top. He was brought the ape head that sings along to "We are...Penn State."

Of course we invited the Penn-Staters to join our flip-cup tourney. They didn't fare too well, but showed some great sportsmanship in a losing effort

Jim
We also invited Jim Lowry to join us today. We met Jim at the Phryst Pub in State College when he gave us his table for "Table Wars." Jim made us some "Jager-Bombs" and joined in the flip-cup tournament. He was no joke either; picking up on things early and contributing to his team's win. Unfortunately Drew was no contribution and his team was eliminated in the 3rd round.
Unfortunately Jim had to spend most of the day answering who was represented as #14 on his jersey. Hopefully we'll see Jim again in Ann Arbor.

We also ran into some fellas that made the roadtrip out from State College. They joined us at our tailgate for the video above and strangely enough, sat in the row above us at the game.
In the video below, they sing one of Penn State's favorite songs. & yes, the Illinois fans just sat there and took it while they sang.
Lastly, notice the background of the photo of the PSU guys - a record breaking moment!
