Indiana Tailgate

Picture
Indiana's tailgate atmosphere was clearly one of the best in the Big 10.  Parking spots were easy to come by and inexpensive, mostly grassy areas rather than pavement, and there were many beautiful trees all around. Most spots were close to the stadium and there were many restroom facilities nearby.

One thing I've caught on to over the last few weeks is that there are loads of companies handing out free stuff at all of these tailgates.  On this very day, Alka-Seltzer was handing out a new product that is similar to the Airborne illness-prevention tablets.  So as you can guess, it was bad when the promotional employees threw these at us during our flipcup tournament as the game quickly required every player to add a tablet to their beer.  Watch the video beloe for the fun that ensued.

The area where the fraternities were tailgating was pretty insane.  Lots of loud music and students dancing atop cars everywhere.  There were also promotion stands from Geico, Xbox, Verizon and more.

The bean bag sets put in some serious overtime this week.  We set them up prior to 9 AM and even when darkness fell, we were still throwing these things around.

Speaking of darkness, while it was a beautiful day - things chilled down at night and a fire was created to keep warm.  Luckily we had hoarded some firewood from earlier in the day - check out the video below.

Probably the only shortfall of the tailgate was this guy who took his job way too seriously. He found a Schlitz bottle laying somewhere, walked it over to us and said, "Now there is only one group of people tailgating with Schlitz and it's right here."  It was pretty much an accusation that we were just aimlessly throwing bottles everywhere.

Now you've see the "Best Vehicle" spots I've done in most blogs.  Jeff spotted a car that he thought was pretty worthy of mention and wanted to get his photo with it...without asking the owner.  Unfortunately (or fortunately), I had my camera on video mode and didn't get that photo.  What I did get however was the owner's insulted reaction to Jeff sitting in his car.  It's a very quick video, so pay attention!

During this tailgate, we met more great people than anywhere else.  Period.  Many of the people were just there to tailgate and completely ignored the game.  Being there for tailgating or the game, you were all wonderful hosts!  And cue the group photos...
