Michigan Foods

line out the door
After spending 24 hours in Ann Arbor, it might hold the title for best foods/eateries in the Big 10. Just to start, there is Dominick's Pizza and Big 10 Burrito, but there were two that we, er Drew, particularly honed in on.
We'll start with Krazy Jim's, home of the Blimpy Burger. No, this isn't the Blimpie sub that you get at your local gas station.
After standing in line for about 20 minutes or more, we finally got to order. Apparently they have some ordering rules that you must abide by when ordering a burger. When Drew didn't follow them, everyone got worked up & started whining about it. If they were really upset, they would have or could have sent him to the end of the line, but they know we're in a recession and let him buy a burger.
The plus of this place is that they provide more sides than just french fries. Zucchini, onion rings, cauliflower and more can be fried for you. As for the burger, they'll put an egg on it and a variety of sides. To top it off, you have a few choices of bread, including Jeff's choice - the pumpernickel.
At the end of the day, the patties are a bit unsubstantial and even the guys from Maryland who sat with us admitted that they weren't blown away. Jeff's comments, "Good burger, not the best though." Minutes after posting this installment, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel called and asked Jeff to be their food critic for the newspaper.

King of Delicatessens
Now for the not-so-overrated. Overpriced, but not overrated. Zingerman's Deli. Never would you expect so much out of a deli!
As we stepped in, we noticed more breads than we ever knew existed to the right! To the left, the meats and cheeses were plentiful.
When Drew ordered the $15.00 reuben (corned beer, saurkraut, swiss cheese, and Thousand Island dressing), he was asked what type of pickle he wanted? "Ummm, Kosher?" "Oh, the choices are cucumbery or garlicly?"
There was also wine and olive oil tasting (at 7 AM mind you).

As you continue to walk around the deli, you find all sorts of interesting things. You'll see marshmallows, cookies, and brownies that look just amazing! Then you see the price tag and back off.
